How short can I cut these bars down?

Our Aluminum Handlebars can be cut down to a minimum of 750mm. Any further you risk clamping your controls onto the ovalized flex zone of the bar. Doing so could compromise the integrity of the bar.

If I cut my bars down, will I lose the compliance benefits?

As you reduce the length of the bar, the compliance will also reduce slightly. But keep in mind that a OneUp bar cut down to 750mm will still have more compliance compared to another 750mm bar.

OneUp Aluminum Handlebar.

"This is a great handlebar, I feel it has more compliance than the carbon version even after trimming it down to 760mm. It rides fantastic, plenty of stiffness and control on turns and compliant on big or small hits. On my Trek Slash 8 (Gen 5) I went from the stock aluminium bar to a carbon bar and back to aluminium with this OneUp bar and it is without a doubt one of the best upgrades I made to my bike's cockpit, I own many of OneUp's components on my Slash and I'm proud to say they're one of the best in the industry."

Q&A

Are there any differences in shock absorption and other aspects between carbon fiber and aluminum alloy?
Hi Kevin, Thanks for your message, I'm happy to help.  In regards to compliance, the performance is very similar. However in my opinion the carbon bars do a better job of absorbing the energy and preventing it from entering your hands. Both bars are super strong, however if you find you crash often, or are quite rough with the bike, I'd suggest the Aluminum bars. Please let me know if there's anything else I can help you with.  Cheers,
Hi, I currently have a Santa Cruz e35 carbon handlebar on my 2024 Heckler that I want to replace with an aluminium handlebar. Is there a problem using yours except that I can’t use rhe cable ports? Specifically is rhere a problem wirh the force applied from the ebike or is the strength and compliance equal? Thank you for your feedback & Merry xmas, Stephan
Hey Stephan, you are correct, the only trouble would be the cable ports. The force of the e-bike is no trouble with the aluminum bars, but they will be less compliant than carbon bars.
Hey, I've just installed a set of the aluminium bars and noticed there is a little lump/protrusion on the inside of them, roughly 50ish mm in from the end on the right side. I can feel it with a finger, its not sharp and seems to be around most of the circumference. Is this anything to worry about or just something left over from manufacture? the outside is all perfect and nothing on the other side. Cheers.
Hey Chris, no need to worry! This is from the manufacturing process. Appreciate you double checking!
Hi guys just wondering if you were going to do a 50mm rise in the aluminium handlebars.
Hey Ian, Thanks for your message, I'm happy to help.  No plans for that at the moment sorry! Please let me know if there's anything else I can help you with.  Cheers,
Hi, There are horizontal lines marking at the center of the aluminum handlebar. Which line to correspond to the edge of a zero degrees stem face plate (which is the head tube angle) for best vertical compliance? And is the top line (view from riding position) or the center line the center of the oval tube? Thanks, John
Hi Jonahtan, Thanks for your message, I'm happy to help.  The alloy bars use a different system than the carbon bars did. The lines are just there to help with general centering/alignment. This method is a bit less precise, and requires eye-balling the alignment. Gently clamp the bars in your stem so that you can rotate them. Centre the bars in the stem. Visually align the flat spots of the bar to be perpendicular to your fork. Clamp the bar to the specified torque rating. This will align the flex of the bar in the same plane as the fork travel. Let me know if you have any troubles with this process, we're here to help. Cheers,
